The Barack Obama Presidential Campaign has indeed demanded the attention of the entire nation. The masterful use of social media has been incredible.
But of course, the key is to look beyond what the world is evaluating (politics) to ferret out what this campaign can teach us as we grow and expand the reach of our businesses.
The purpose of the social media segment of our business promotion is to connect with those who may be interested in our product or service and then move them to take action to engage with us on some level. This interview will get you on the inside of the thinking behind the deployment…
Learning how to run your business is one of the hardest lessons to learn. Many times we are working someone else’s business and not our own business. We may have false expectations for outcomes and exercise bad judgment in anticipating how long the process is going to take. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone…believe me.
These are common and very big mistakes that keep people running in circles for years.
Let’s take a step backward, though, and look at things through a wider lens. Sometimes the simplest things show us the greatest lessons…
This past weekend my little girl learned to ride her bicycle. It was one of the happiest moments in her life and one of the proudest in mine.
She had to physically learn how to do this. She couldn’t read a book, couldn’t listen to an MP3. I couldn’t tell her how to do it. She had to actually do it. There were no “great new breakthrough” ideas and no new tool to help.
Simply put, she had to do the work – find out how her body would work with the bike, learn how to not fall down, and so on.
What do we share most? What is that thing that we can't get out of our mind most? What carries us to other times in our lives?
The answer is music.
Check out the rise of the ipod. Look at what makes a good movie great. You will find that music is the underpinning of much of our emotional response. This company entered the market with music and then kept moving.
Obviously, I am studying music as it relates to business development and emotional response. As I was doing my research, I came across this video of the IPod release.
The innovation sequencing is incredible. This is a great example of product and service integration.
Full explanation of the internet. I am always looking for basic information for the media channel I am working in and with. I ran across this video that gives one of the best descriptions of the so-called “cloud”.
Cuts thought the mystery and answers basic internet questions:
How does the internet work?
What is the internet really?
Why does the internet work?
What are the differences in online media distribution?
How can the internet handle video and audio?
How is the internet evolving with the advances in broadband?
As we are searching for the secret to success in business and life, this is a delightfully short presentation about the elements that make success in life possible.
What I like the most about this is that the ideas are understandable and pragmatic.
I truly suspect that you can explain these principles to high school students and those that listen will make it happen.
Which now begs the question, when do we become “adults” and the basics no longer apply?
Online information overload is a problem that few of us think about, but we feel the affects of it every day.
I got a lesson in TMI (Too Much Information) yesterday. As I was watching my little one read, she reminded me of the importance of learning what is important and useful in the information-gathering process.
To make a long story very short, while reading a passage in a book, my daughter got upset. As I asked her what was going on she said, “I just read for five minutes and they could have told me the whole story in 30 seconds.” Immediately, I taught her how to scan for important information using a “keyword-like” method.
The line between SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and PPC (Pay Per Click) is getting fuzzy these days. Many of you have heard me say that to do good SEO you have to know how to do PPC.
PPC first then SEO. Why not just go for the SEO first?
